Sortemosehus is a former forest ranger’s house from 1893, located in Arden at the southern entrance to Rold Skov.

Sortemosehus was converted into a Nature Center and Hærvejsherberg in 2025.

You can stay overnight at Sortemosehus in both shelters, in hostel rooms and in tents.
The Hærvejsherberg consists of three rooms with two bunk beds each, a shared kitchen and packed lunch room as well as a toilet and bathroom.
When you book an overnight stay, you will receive a code for the toilet and bathroom in your email before your arrival.
You must initially bring your own sleeping bag and sheet, but it is possible to rent bedding and linen on site (it costs 70 DKK).
