Pastor Møllers Shelterpitch
Hidden between the tall trees in Visby Park lies Pastor Møllers Shelterpitch. It consists of 3 shelters arranged around a small campfire.
Visby Park was originally named “Pastor Møllers Garden”. It was established during the 1920’s by Pastor Niels Møller and his wife, Christine. After disagreements with the congregation, after the reunion in 1920, Pastor Møller lost his job in the parish. The couple therefore moved out of the rectory and into “Trosalta”, the little house in the park. At his death in 1931 Pastor Møller testamented the garden, where he and his wife are both burried, to the parish of Visby.
Today the park is owned by the municipality of Tønder, but is managed and maintained by the local people. Likewise the shelterpitch is established in a collaboration between the local council, KFUM-Scouts of Visby and other volunteers with financial support from the municipality of Tønder and the Nordea-Foundation.
