Hovergaarde – Arla® Organic Shelter

Welcome to Arla® Organic Shelters

This shelter site, located at Hovergaarde, is situated in beautiful nature in Spjald. Klaus owns Hovergaarde, a family farm several hundred years old, which has been run organically for the past 30 years. The farm has 200 organic dairy cows, plus heifers and calves that graze outside in the summer. In addition, 580 hectares of land are cultivated with feed for the cows and crops such as rapeseed, peas, fava beans, grass seed, rye, and wheat.

Spjald is the sixth largest town in Ringkøbing-Skjern Municipality with approximately 1,377 inhabitants. Ringkøbing-Skjern Municipality is also the largest municipality in Denmark and has 56,203 inhabitants (2022). Spjald is located in West Jutland on primary route 11, 10 km northwest of Videbæk. The town is centrally located in the area between Holstebro, Herning, Ringkøbing, and Skjern.

The Arla® Organic shelter site is fully equipped with a shelter, benches, and a fire pit. All you need to bring is your sleeping bag, firewood, and curiosity about nature.

Close to the Arla® Organic shelter, there is a parking lot, and from there the field leads to the shelter. It is approximately 150 meters from the parking lot through slightly hilly terrain.

• Since we would like as many as possible to enjoy our shelters, you can only book a stay for a maximum of three nights.
• Number of shelters: 1
• Number of sleeping places: 4-(5) people
• Drinking water: No
• Toilet: No. Nearest toilet is in the gravedigger’s house at Hover Kirke 1,4 km away or by Ølstrup Kirke (gravedigger’s house) 3,5 km away.
• Tables & benches: Yes, there is room for 4 people.
• Fire pit: Yes, but you must bring your own firewood.
• Tents: No, setting up tents is not allowed.

Rules for using the shelter site:

• Remember to extinguish the fire.
• Use the trash bin.
• Keep the shelter site clean and tidy.
• Avoid unnecessary noise.
• No music is allowed.
• Animals are welcome, but they must be kept on a leash.
• Do not feed or scare the animals.
