Shopping
There are no longer any shops where you can purchase everyday necessities in Espe. The last one was closed in 2012. Today (2014), it is still possible, however, to buy lamps and electrical goods from the electrician, or furniture from the famous old furniture store, Espe Møbler. But these are not the things you need the most when sleeping in a shelter.
The closest place to go shopping is Ringe which offers a wide selection of shops, eating places, supermarkets etc. It is about 6 km. away from the old railway path. A bit off the country road.
At the other end of the railway path in Korinth you can find a Dagli Brugs supermarket. Distance: about 12 km
If you are feeling a bit peckish, the closest place to eat is Espe Hallen’s cafeteria. Opening hours:
Monday from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Thursday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Open on weekends if hosting different events. These are the opening hours for 2014, you can call +45 52 66 1510 to double-check if open.
In Hillerslev, some 5 km away, there is a takeaway, Hillerslev Grill. It might be a good idea to check in advance if it is open because its opening hours generally coincide with the times when there are students at Hejmly Efterskole.
On the other hand, there are often plenty of blackberries, wild apples, hip and other treats, so maybe you should consider it. Everything, of course, depends on the season.
